Naaz is the heaviest, most worked piece we make. A full jaal - an all-over repeat that covers the entire cloth with no ground left plain - hand block printed in multiple colours on 240 GSM south cotton. Every colour in the design needs its own carved block, and a full jaal means the printer walks the length of the cloth once for each one. It is the most labour a single bedsheet can carry, and it is why this is our flagship.

Why 240 GSM matters

Most cotton bedsheets sold in India sit between 100 and 150 GSM. Naaz is 240 - close to double. You feel it the moment you unfold it: it falls rather than floats, it doesn't slide off the mattress, and it holds a crisp edge when made up. South cotton is woven in the mills of Tamil Nadu and Andhra, with a matte, substantial handle quite different from the smooth crispness of a percale. The craft

Sanganer has printed cloth for more than four centuries, and the chhipa printers who work there still lay each block by hand against the length of the table. A multicolour jaal is the hardest thing to print well: every block has to register against the last, over and over, across nine square metres of cloth. Where the blocks meet you will sometimes see a faint overlap or a break in the line. That is the hand, and it is the difference between this and a screen print.
